Radical Disciples – A Remnant Revolution

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Assignment

There is a specific charge upon Dr. Russell Welch, and it did not originate with him. The Lord commissioned him as an apostolic teacher and watchman to the Remnant — those set apart in this hour to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Ecclesia and to answer with obedience. The heart of that commission is to call the sons and daughters of God back under the authority of Scripture, back under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and back into the fear of the Lord that produces spiritual maturity.

The assignment stands against every form of religious mixture and spiritual compromise that has weakened the Ecclesia in this generation. It stands against the drift that allows feelings, traditions, cultural pressure, and untested spiritual experiences to take a place that belongs only to the authority of Scripture, while substituting religious activity for the transforming Presence of God. It is the work of a watchman — to keep his post, to remain awake, and to call the household back to what has been forsaken.

From this single commission flow three distinct expressions. Remnant Warrior Ministries carries the apostolic and equipping mandate translocally, to a scattered Remnant in many nations and cities. Highway to Heaven Church is the local expression of the Lord’s Ecclesia in North Florida — a House of Presence and a prayer altar planted in one place, where the assignment is embodied in worship, discipleship, and the daily life of a covenant people. Kingdom War College is the training arm of the assignment, where the doctrine and formation of the Remnant are taught in structured depth. Each expression carries a portion of the same mandate, and each operates under the same Lord.

Back Under the Word

The Remnant is formed by the Word of God. Before there can be a life of presence, or a life shaped by the Cross, or a Kingdom assignment carried cleanly into the earth, there must be a return to the settled and unshakable authority of Scripture. The Word of God is the ground on which the Ecclesia stands, and any generation that trades that ground for another authority will build something the Lord did not ask for.

This is a call to place the whole life — desire, judgment, doctrine, feeling, ambition, and relationship — back under the Word. It reaches far beyond an increase in Bible study. When a believer comes back under Scripture, personal preference no longer carries veto power over the plain counsel of God. Cultural pressure no longer determines what is spoken from the pulpit or believed in the heart. Private revelation is tested by the written Word, not exalted above it. Tradition is measured against Scripture rather than defended by it. The Lord Jesus Christ is honored as He is, rather than as He has been reshaped to suit a generation.

Religious mixture is the great weakening of the Ecclesia in this hour, and it enters through unattended doors. It enters when the fear of the Lord is replaced with the fear of man, when the pursuit of holiness is exchanged for the pursuit of relevance, and when Scripture is quietly demoted from final authority to occasional reference. The response required is repentance and return — a deliberate coming back beneath the searching authority of the Word, allowing it once again to expose, correct, and govern.

This is where the assignment begins because every deeper work of God rests upon it. A life of presence that is not anchored in Scripture will drift. A cross that is not defined by Scripture will be blunted or misused. Kingdom authority that is not measured by Scripture will slip into counterfeit forms. Everything that follows in the formation of the Remnant depends upon this foundation being recovered and kept.

Into the Presence

Scripture returns the Remnant to God, and the Presence of God is where His people were always meant to dwell. The Word is never meant to leave us with information alone; it leads us into deeper communion with the God who breathed it. Scripture and Presence are not competitors. The written Word carries the believer into obedience, worship, prayer, and abiding relationship with the Lord, while every experience of His Presence remains governed by what He has revealed in the Word. The two hold each other in place.

The Ecclesia was never intended to be a program with worship attached. It was intended to be a House of Presence — a body gathered around the manifest weight of who God is, a people whose corporate life is built on prayer, intercession, and the fear of the Lord. Where His Presence is honored, hearts are exposed and healed. Where His Presence is grieved, no strategy or program will replace what has been lost.

This second movement of the assignment calls the Remnant into a deeper altar than most modern discipleship offers. It calls for consecration — the deliberate setting apart of the life to the Lord. It calls for stillness in a generation that has forgotten how to be still. It calls for worship that is neither performance nor entertainment, but the response of a covenant people to a holy God. It calls the intercessors back to their post and the watchmen back to the wall.

To enter His Presence is to be undone and remade. It is where identity is settled, where fear is answered, where discernment is sharpened, and where the voice of the Shepherd is heard within the boundaries of His Word. What sustains the Remnant is encounter with the Lord Himself — encounter tested by Scripture, cultivated through prayer, and rooted in the fear of the Lord.

Through the Cross

No one walks with God for long before the Cross confronts what the Presence has exposed. What began as encounter becomes a call — take up your cross and follow Me. This third movement of the assignment is often the point at which those who are merely curious about the things of God part ways with those who are being made disciples. The Cross names the death of self that must take place if the life of Christ is to be formed in the believer, and no measure of Kingdom authority is carried in the earth apart from it.

Through the Cross, the believer is brought into surrender. What has been clung to is released. What has been hidden is confessed. Old identities forged in wounding, rejection, performance, or independence are laid down, and the true identity of a son or daughter of God is received in their place. Sonship becomes real — not as a phrase repeated, but as a settled knowing of who the Father says the believer is in Jesus Christ.

The same work brings the believer into holiness. This is not the manufactured holiness of religious performance but the fruit of a life truly surrendered to the Lord. The disciplines of consecration take on weight. The pursuit of purity is rooted in love for the Lord rather than the religious performance of legalism. The Lord is nearer than the breath, and the believer’s life is being conformed, day by day, into the image of His Son.

Healing and deliverance belong to this same work of the Cross. Old bondages are broken at the place where Jesus already carried them. The lies believed for years are answered by the truth of Scripture. The wounds that shaped a life are placed under the blood, and what the enemy meant for destruction is stripped of its power. This is the ministry of the crucified and risen Christ working in His people, and it is one of the great gifts entrusted to the Remnant in this hour.

At the Cross, the assignment becomes personal. The call to come back under the Word and into the Presence must eventually pass through the Cross, because the Lord is preparing a people whose lives can carry His Presence cleanly, and only the Cross does that inward work.

Out Into Kingdom Assignment

The believer who has been brought back under the Word, into the Presence, and through the Cross is being prepared for Kingdom assignment. The purpose of the Lord Jesus Christ in this hour reaches beyond gathering the discouraged into a place of comfort. He is building an Ecclesia through whom the Kingdom of God is expressed in the earth, and each member of that Ecclesia carries a portion of that assignment.

Kingdom government is the framework beneath everything the Remnant does. The Lordship of Jesus Christ reaches beyond private conviction; it is the actual governing reality of the Ecclesia — how decisions are made, how authority is exercised, how the household is ordered, how discipleship is carried out, and how spiritual warfare is engaged. Where Kingdom government is honored, the enemy loses ground. Where it is neglected, the household is weakened even where its programs and gatherings succeed.

Spiritual warfare is the ordinary condition of a mature believer rather than an unusual episode. The Remnant does not war from fear or from fascination with the demonic. It wars from the finished work of the Cross, from the authority given to the Ecclesia in the Name of Jesus, and from a place of governed prayer, intercession, and discernment. Watchmen are trained to perceive what others do not see and to speak what needs to be said when others are silent. Warriors are trained to stand in the day when standing is what has been asked of them. The mature Remnant learns both, and it does not undertake either alone.

Kingdom assignment carries different weight for different members of the body. For some, it is intercession that shifts unseen realities in cities and nations. For some, it is discipleship that raises up the next generation of watchmen. For some, it is the marketplace, the family, the pulpit, the mission field, the arts, the schools, or the quiet witness of a life lived under Lordship in a compromised age. The particular expression varies from believer to believer. The underlying formation does not — every Kingdom-assigned life passes through the same four movements, and it is that shared formation that produces a Remnant the Lord can send.

How the Assignment Is Expressed

The four movements above describe the formation the Lord is working in the Remnant. What follows is how that formation becomes visible in the earth. From one commission, three related expressions have been raised up — Remnant Warrior Ministries, Highway to Heaven Church, and Kingdom War College. Each has its own place and function, and each carries a portion of the same assignment under the same Lord.

Remnant Warrior Ministries

Remnant Warrior Ministries is the apostolic and equipping expression of this assignment, carried translocally to a Remnant scattered across many places. Where Highway to Heaven Church is a local body, Remnant Warrior Ministries reaches beyond any one congregation to the watchmen, intercessors, teachers, warriors, and hungry believers whom the Lord has placed in local churches everywhere and who are looking for depth, clarity, and a mature apostolic voice.

The mandate of Remnant Warrior Ministries is equipping — the plain teaching of the Word, prophetic clarity in a confused hour, and the voice of a watchman speaking to a household that needs to hear it. Highway to Heaven Church

Highway to Heaven Church is the local expression of this assignment in North Florida. It is a covenant people gathered in one place, ordered under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and functioning as the Lord’s Ecclesia in Jacksonville and the surrounding region.

Highway to Heaven is a House of Presence. Its life is built around worship that honors the manifest Presence of God, prayer that is treated as work rather than accessory, and Scripture taught with weight. It is a prayer altar planted in the earth — where intercessors are formed, where the watchmen keep their post, and where the household of the Lord meets with Him without hurry.

It is also a training ground and an equipping community. Discipleship there is practical and sustained. Believers are taught how to walk under the Word, how to grow in the fear of the Lord, how to war in prayer, how to steward identity in Christ, how to receive healing and deliverance, and how to carry Kingdom authority in the ordinary spheres of daily life. Kingdom War College exists for those who have heard the assignment and who are ready to be formed by it in a sustained way.
