Dr Russ Welch, co-founder of Mighty Arm Ministries, has had a passion for ministering to the elderly since he was a young child. Growing up in his early years in a small town in northern Maine, he would often ride his bike for miles to visit elderly men in the town in rural northern Maine and sit for hours listening to their stories of yesterdays gone by.
That passion has never diminished and now in his 50’s he still loves to sit and listen to what they have to say. He has been an advocate for senior care for a number of years and the concern of abuse of the elderly in nursing home and assisted living center industry has caused him to step up and to be a voice on their behalf.
In 2005, freshly out of ministry school with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious education, Dr Russ and his wife Millette started Mighty Arm Ministries, a nursing home ministry and for 8 years they held services every Sunday morning in nursing homes in the Jacksonville, Florida region. Dr Russ graduated with a doctorate degree in Theology in 2015 and is serving on the leadership team at The RiverHouse in Jacksonville Florida with a renewed passion for the reformation and transformation of individuals to come into the true revelation of who they are in Christ and the authority that they have through Christ to release Heaven here on earth.
The RiverHouse is a reformation ministry reforming the mindset of individuals back to the foundational teachings of Jesus Christ based upon Kingdom principals. Spiritually, this births a spiritual transformation to the individual, who which impacts the individual to transform their families, cities, regions and even nation.
There are several key parts of the ministry which includes healing, deliverance, apostolic teachings, a veterans ministry and ongoing discipleship bringing individuals into the true revelation of who they are as sons & daughters of the Lord. The RiverHouse host a Sunday morning gathering seeking the authentic Book of Act’s meetings called Sunday Morning Grace Gatherings as well a weekly gathering on Friday Nights which focuses on Hosting the Presence of the Lord.
Dr. Russ as well the other leaders in the Apostolic ministry at the RiverHouse believe the Lord has mandated this New Season with this Spiritual Reformation to usher the Bride into the true understanding of not only what it means to be a son and daughter of God, put to live as such.
Also in 2015, Dr. Russ was honored by other ministers in his field, based on the recognized fruit in his life and ministry to be nominated for and received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from the Christian Bible institute & seminary, putting him in the Alumni class of other recipients such as Robert W. Schambach, Dr. Sheryl Brady, Dr. Marvin Sapp, and Dr. Juanita Bynum.
He has struggled with the politics within the religious community which is sadly found within the majority of the “Traditional – Institutional” Church structures which operates on more of a worldly business model rather than that of the Kingdom model and is a firm believer in the simplicity of the Gospel message of the Kingdom of God and how “Church” functioned in the first century. This is one reason he is so passionate about ministry in the nursing homes, as much like the first century Christians, fellowship is happening right in the “home” of these precious people.
Over the past several years the Lord has really been speaking to Russ about a fresh Spiritual move of reformation that will usher in a period of not mere word but the Power of God demonstrated with signs, wonders and miracles. And with this new move of the Spirit we will witness the re-aligning His Body back into her true identity. It will cause a shaken that will be felt across all denomination lines, in the world as the Creator of the Heavens & earth, our Heavenly Father calls forth the son’s and daughters of God.
