America is not merely facing another policy debate. We are facing a growing ideological struggle over what kind of nation we intend to remain.

Socialism does not simply seek another government program here or another entitlement there. At its core, it steadily transfers responsibility and authority away from individuals, families, churches, communities, private enterprise, and local government and places increasing power in the hands of the centralized state. Taken far enough, that is not reform of the American constitutional system; it is a fundamental transformation of it.
