The lesson of Tours for the Ecclesia is not that Christians must pick up earthly weapons against their Muslim neighbors. Our weapons are not carnal. The lesson is that there are moments in history when a people must recognize what is advancing toward them, understand what they believe, and refuse to surrender the ground entrusted to them.
Charles Martel did not win because he ran blindly into battle. He gathered his forces, chose his ground, maintained discipline, and refused to allow the pressure of the advancing army to break his formation. That becomes a striking picture of the Church in this hour.
The Remnant must recover that same spiritual discipline.
Spiritual Warfare Strategy One: Fortify the Ground of Truth
The first strategy is to strengthen what is already in our hands. The Church cannot effectively answer Islamic theology—or any competing worldview—when believers themselves are uncertain about the deity of Christ, the Cross, the Resurrection, salvation by grace, the authority of Scripture, and the uniqueness of Jesus.
This is where the battle begins: in the mind, in doctrine, and in identity.
Second Corinthians 10:4–5 teaches that the weapons of our warfare are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds, arguments, and every exalted thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God. That means the Remnant must become deeply rooted in biblical truth, able to discern error, answer false claims, and refuse compromise.
We do not defeat deception with anger. We defeat deception with truth.
We do not hold the line through fear. We hold the line by knowing who Christ is and who we are in Him.
Spiritual Warfare Strategy Two: Establish Prayer Altars at the Gates
The second strategy is intercession. Before ideology captures institutions, it first captures minds, language, values, and cultural imagination. That is why the Remnant must recover sustained prayer over cities, schools, neighborhoods, government, families, and the next generation.
Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:18 to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Prayer is not the preparation for spiritual warfare. Prayer is spiritual warfare.
The Remnant should establish prayer watches over the gates of influence: education, government, media, family, business, and the Church itself. We pray that deception is exposed, that hearts are opened, that believers are strengthened, and that Jesus is revealed to those who do not know Him.
Our objective is not the destruction of people. It is the destruction of spiritual blindness.
We pray for Muslims to encounter Christ. We pray for Christians to awaken. We pray for leaders to walk in wisdom. We pray for the Gospel to advance without fear.
Spiritual Warfare Strategy Three: Advance the Gospel Into Contested Ground
The third strategy is not retreat, but advance. The Great Commission does not tell the Church to hide from competing ideologies. Jesus commanded us to go.
The answer to the growth of Islam in America is not fear of Muslims. It is Christians who are no longer ashamed of Jesus Christ.
The Remnant must take the Gospel into neighborhoods, universities, workplaces, public conversations, and relationships. We should know how to respectfully explain why we believe Jesus is more than a prophet, why the Cross matters, why the Resurrection changes everything, and why salvation is found in Christ.
We should pray for Muslim neighbors, befriend them, serve them, reason from Scripture, answer questions, and believe Holy Spirit can reveal Jesus to them.
This is how the Kingdom advances: not through hatred, intimidation, or coercion, but through truth carried in love and demonstrated in power.
Hold the Formation
Paul describes believers standing together in the armor of God in Ephesians 6:10–18. Truth around the waist. Righteousness guarding the heart. Faith raised against the fiery darts. Salvation guarding the mind. The Word of God in our hands. Prayer continually rising before God.
A fragmented Church becomes vulnerable. A mature Ecclesia standing together in truth is difficult to move.
The Remnant must refuse division, distraction, fear, and compromise.
Distinguish the Person From the Ideology
A Muslim is a human being made in the image of God and someone for whom Christ died. Islamic theological claims, however, can and should be examined, challenged, debated, and answered by Christians.
We can reject Muhammad’s prophetic claims, reject the Quran’s account of Jesus, defend the crucifixion and resurrection, and proclaim Christ as Lord without treating Muslim people as enemies.
Our enemy is not the Muslim family living down the street. Our battlefield is the realm of truth, allegiance, worship, and worldview.
The Church does not have to hate those who believe differently in order to refuse to surrender the ground.
The Remnant can love Muslims fiercely while refusing to compromise one inch concerning who Jesus Christ is.
We fortify the ground of truth.
We establish prayer altars at the gates.
We advance the Gospel into contested ground.
We disciple.
We evangelize.
We defend truth.
We occupy the public square faithfully.
We raise children who know why they believe.
We train believers to answer competing worldviews.
We demonstrate the Kingdom through holiness, compassion, healing, deliverance, generosity, and the supernatural life of Christ.
And when another worldview says Jesus is merely a prophet, the Remnant answers with Peter:
“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” — Matthew 16:16
That is our Tours.
Not another battlefield soaked in human blood, but an Ecclesia so deeply established in Christ that no ideology can intimidate it into silence, compromise it into confusion, or persuade it to surrender the testimony of Jesus.
We must become the altar where the fire falls again.
